Russ Smith injury: Louisville G sprains ankle, returns to game
The Louisville guard injured his left ankle and returned after being removed from the Cardinals’ game against the Memphis Tigers on Saturday afternoon.

Smith landed awkwardly on an opposing player after taking a shot. He couldn’t put any weight on the ankle and was re-taped on the bench before walking to the locker room. Prior to his injury, Smith was struggling to find a rhythm against Memphis, shooting 1-of-7 from the field, including missing all four of his attempts from beyond the arc. Four of his six points were scored from the free-throw line.
Smith has improved every season at Louisville and leads the team in scoring as a junior. He’s averaging 20.3 points per game, 3.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
