The No. 18 San Diego State Aztecs used a solid team effort to easily defeat the San Diego Toreros, 72-56.

Jamaal Franklin and the Aztecs easily handled the Toreros, 72-56.


San Diego was able to keep the game close in the first half, as they approached the 10-minute mark tied at 18. However, the Aztecs used a 10-0 run to break the contest open and wouldn’t look back.
Chase Tapley scored 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting with two assists, one steal and two blocks. Jamaal Franklin added 14 points while grabbing eight rebounds. Deshawn Stephens (11 points) was also able to crack double-digits for the Aztecs.
Ken Rancifer led the way for the Toreros, scoring 16 points on 6-of-17 shooting from the field with seven rebounds and one assist. Chris Manresa and Christopher Anderson each contributed 11 points for San Diego.
San Diego’s next matchup is Saturday against Oregon State Beavers, while San Diego State hosts the Point Loma Sea Lions Tuesday.
