The No. 8 Arizona Wildcats earned a big upset win over No. 5 Florida at home on Saturday night, taking advantage of a furious final minute to beat the Gators, 65-64.

The Arizona Wildcats used a 13-5 run in the final minutes of regulation to earn a big upset win over Florida on Saturday night.


The Gators (7-1) had led 32-29 at the half after surviving a quick surge by the Wildcats. Arizona (8-0) appeared to have grasped momentum at home with the big run, but Florida quickly separated once more when the second half began, building a 54-43 lead midway through the second half.
The home team clawed back into the game once more, closing to within 61-58 with 3:06 remaining in regulation. After Florida guard Scottie Wilbekin hit from long range, Arizona missed on several chances to close the gap, as Wildcats guard Nick Johnson missed two free throws. Arizona did not hit on a field goal in the final three minutes until Solomon Hill's layup pulled the Wildcats to within 64-62 with 26 seconds remaining.
Arizona earned a final surge following Kenny Boynton's missed free throw, as Mark Lyons landed a short jumper after a furious set of rebounds with just seconds remaining in regulation. A desperation shot then fell short as the Wildcats earned the upset victory.
