No. 1 Duke vs. Cornell: Blue Devils crush Big Red, 88-47

The nation’s top team had little trouble dismissing the Cornell Big Red on Wednesday night.

The No. 1 Duke Blue Devils weren't expected to have much trouble with the Cornell Big Red when the two teams squared off on Wednesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium. After a lackluster first half, Duke turned the corner in the second to bury Cornell, 88-47.

Cornell kept it reasonably close in the in first half, heading into the locker room trailing by just 11 points, but once the second half started the Blue Devils dropped the hammer, going on a 19-0 run to put the game out of reach.

The Blue Devils never looked back.

Duke followed that run to open the half with another 16-0 run to go up 76-32 with 9:35 to play, before Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski brought in his reserves.

Senior forward Mason Plumlee led the charge for the Blue Devils with 18 points, nine rebounds and three blocks, while Seth Curry added 20 points and freshman guard Rasheed Sulaimon chipped in with 16 points, three steals and two assists in the win.

The Blue Devils outscored the Big Red in the second half, 47-17.

Duke will host the Elon Phoenix on Thursday. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET.
