Behind a dominant performance from senior guard Chase Tapley, the No. 18 San Diego State Aztecs defeated the San Francisco Dons by the score of 80-58 on Saturday night in the Diamond Head Classic. With the win, the Aztecs are now slated to play Indiana State, after the Sycamores defeated Ole Miss by the score of 87-85, on Sunday night.

Behind senior guard Chase Tapley, the No. 18 San Diego State Aztecs defeated San Francisco to advance in the Diamond Head Classic.


San Diego State controlled the game from opening tip to the final whistle, but it was in the second half where the Aztecs ran away from the Dons as the team outscored their opponent 42-25 in the second half.
Tapley dominated offensively for San Diego State, pouring in 33 points on 19 attempts from the field while collecting five boards. Tapley displayed a full arsenal of shots, and that includes from long range, where the senior guard made six of ten field goals from.
Cole Dickerson, the top performer for the Dons, scored 15 points and collected 12 rebounds. As a team, San Francisco shot under 40% from the floor and couldn’t buy a stop against Chase Tapley and company.
