Ty Johnson transfers from Villanova to South Carolina
Sophomore guard Ty Johnson will play for the Gamecocks next December.

Johnson played in 32 games as a freshman last season. In an average of 17 minutes on the floor, he averaged 3.3 points and 2.0 assists per game, and he shot 31 percent from the field.
The native of New Jersey was a Top 75 recruit, according to NBC Sports. His final choices were down to Villanova, St. John’s, Virginia Tech, Rutgers and Georgetown.
Because of the transfer, Johnson is forced to miss the spring 2013 and fall 2013 semesters.
Without Johnson this season, Villanova is 8-4. Guards James Bell and Ryan Arcidiacono are two of the team's leading scorers, each averaging 11 points per game.
South Carolina has also been strong this season, going 8-3. They’ve won three straight games, with victories over Jacksonville, Appalachian State and Manhattan.
