No. 8 Cincinnati vs. New Mexico final score: Bearcats upset by Lobos, 55-54

The Cincinnati Bearcats failed to score in the final 2:29 of the game as they fell to New Mexico, 55-54, on Thursday night.

Cincinnati led 54-53 after Cashmere Wright nailed a three-pointer with 2:49 left in the game, but Tony Snell made a jumper with 2:29 remaining to put New Mexico up for good.

Alex Kirk led the Lobos with 15 points and six rebounds on 6-of-8 shooting from the field. Snell finished the game with 10 points and four rebounds on 4-of-15 shooting from the floor.

Sean Kilpatrick had 15 points for the Bearcats but shot just 5-of-22 from the field including 4-of-13 from three-point territory.

As a team, Cincinnati shot just 31.2 percent from the floor.

The loss was Cincinnati’s first this season as they opened the year with 12 consecutive wins and climbed to eighth in the polls. With the win, New Mexico improved to 13-1. The Lobos’ only loss came against South Dakota State on Dec. 22.
