No. 2 Michigan vs. Central Michigan final score: Wolverines blow past Chippewas 88-73

Wolverines ride hot shooting and mistake-free offense to easy win over in-state foe.

The No. 2 Michigan Wolverines completed a perfect non-conference season with an 88-73 win over the Central Michigan Chippewas Saturday night. Michigan started the game with a 9-2 run and opened up a 17-point halftime lead, before playing even with the visiting Chippewas through the second half.

Michigan (13-0) was led by 22 points and 11 assists from Trey Burke. Glen Robinson III added 20 points and three rebounds. Nik Stauskas made five of his eight three-point attempts, scoring 19 points and leading the Wolverines with seven rebounds. The Wolverines committed only three turnovers and 10 personal fouls in the game.

Central Michigan got 14 points and six boards from Olivier Mbaigoto. Guards Austin Keel and Derrick Richardson Jr. each scored 11 in the losing effort. The Chippewas shot a respectable 47.5 percent from the field, but were done in by 14 turnovers.

Michigan opens Big Ten play Thursday night at Northwestern. Central Michigan gets an 11-day break before beginning MAC play Jan. 9 against Bowling Green.
