No. 6 Kansas vs. American final score: Jayhawks overwhelm Eagles in 89-57 win

Travis Releford and No. 6 Kansas couldn’t miss from the floor in their dominant 89-57 win against American University at Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday.

The No. 6 Kansas Jayhawks took care of business against the American Eagles at Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday, shooting the lights out of the gym in a dominant 89-57 win. Kansas shot 65% from the floor and made 15 of 24 three-point attempts.

It seemed like Kansas couldn't miss a shot from anywhere on the floor and that included Travis Releford, who made seven of eight field goal attempts for 19 points. His lone miss came from beyond the arc. Star guard Ben McLemore had nine points with three rebounds and three assists.

The Jayhawks controlled the game from opening tip to the final whistle, ending the first half with a comfortable 53-26 lead. The Eagles played Kansas tough in the second half, but the game was already out of hand by that point.

For the Eagles, Stephen Lumpkins scored 16 points and collected six rebounds while John Schoof added 14 points.

Now at 11-1 on the season, Kansas will now have a week off before hosting the Temple Owls (9-2) on Jan. 6. The Owls defeated Syracuse earlier in the season.
