The Hurricanes began the season without Durand Scott, who missed the team's first three contests due to suspension. With Scott and Johnson in the lineup, Miami was 5-0, but Jim Larranaga's club has lost its last two games, to Arizona and Indiana State, without Johnson.
The senior center was averaging 12.6 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game before injuring his hand in practice the day before the Diamond Head Classic began. Johnson was a solid contributor for the Hurricanes last season, averaging 10 points and seven rebounds per game, which was actually a down year from his 2010-11 season in which Johnson averaged 12 ppg and 10rpg.
Miami next faces La Salle on Jan. 2 before beginning ACC play at Georgia Tech on Jan. 5.
