The Georgetown Hoyas improved to 6-1 on the season with an impressive 64-41 win over Texas in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden. Georgetown, coming off what will likely be the ugliest game of the season -- a 37-36 win over Tennessee, held the Longhorns to less than 30 percent from the field and overwhelmed Texas on the defensive end of the floor.

Otto Porter, who's making his case as one of the best all-around players in the country in the first month of the season, finished with a game-high 14 points. Porter does a little bit of everything for the Hoyas, and he pulled down seven boards, blocked three shots and had three steals. The Missouri native, alongside fellow sophomore Greg Whittington, could be embarking on a special season with Georgetown. Nate Lubick, who's more of an energy guy on the inside, added 13 points. It wasn't always pretty on offense for Georgetown, but Texas did not have the weapons to make it close in the second half.
The Longhorns continue to play without Myck Kabongo, and they have little option on the offensive end without him. Texas scored just 17 points in the first half as the Hoyas jumped out to the double-digit lead. The Longhorns then went more than nine minutes without a field goal in the second half as it became academic as early as the under 12 timeout. Sheldon McClellan hit two threes and finished with a team-high 12 points. But there wasn't much else working on offense, and the Hoyas salted away the final 10 minutes to preserve the win.
