No. 12 Missouri vs. SEMO final score: Tigers outlast Redhawks, 81-65

The Missouri Tigers avoided a disaster on Tuesday night with a 16-point win over Southeast Missouri State.

USA TODAY Sports

Despite a 10-point halftime deficit, the No. 12-ranked Missouri Tigers came alive in the second half to post a 81-65 victory over the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks on Tuesday night.

The Tigers responded from a slow start to outscore the Redhawks 46-20 over the game's final 20 minutes, and picked up a career-high 26 points from forward Laurence Bowers in the process. The 6'8 Bowers also chipped in nine rebounds and a pair of blocks, and flashed his all-around game by draining both of his three-point attempts.

Missouri point guard Phil Pressey entered the night as one of the most efficient players on head coach Frank Haith's roster, but made just four of his 18 field goal attempts despite adding 17 points and five assists. Unable to take down the Tigers for the second consecutive season, the undersized Redhawks gave Missouri a legitimate scare through the game's first 30 minutes with consistent, heady play. In addition to committing just nine turnovers all game, the Redhawks finished the night with four scorers in double figures.

Now at 7-1 on the year, Haith’s Tigers will next hit the court Saturday for a date with Tennessee State in Columbia at Mizzou Arena.
