No. 16 Creighton vs. Akron final score: Bluejays win, 77-61
Led by a strong performance from one of the nation’s best scorers, Creighton improved to 9-1 on Sunday afternoon.

McDermott, one of the most prolific scorers in the nation, flashed his skills on Sunday with a barrage of shots, leading all scorers with 30 points. The junior was quite efficient, too, needing just 15 shots to put up his impressive scoring figure.
While the rest of his teammates struggled to score, especially from long range, McDermott powered Creighton’s offense with six three-point shots. He also added six rebounds, four assists and one steal in one of his best all-around performances of the season.
Akron shot a decent 42 percent from the field, but the Zips struggled from three-point range, turned the ball over too frequently and got crushed on the boards, allowing Creighton to notch a relatively easy win at home.
