On a night when the UNLV Runnin' Rebels lost star forward Mike Moser to a dislocated elbow, they came together to pick up arguably their biggest win of the year. Despite blowing a late lead against the California Golden Bears in Berkeley, a huge performance from freshman Anthony Bennett helped lead No. 21 UNLV to a 76-75 victory.
No. 21 UNLV vs. California final score
The Runnin’ Rebels escaped in the final seconds to improve their record to 7-1 this season. Freshman Anthony Bennett led the way with 25 points and 13 rebounds.

Bennett went off for 25 points and 13 rebounds, and will be featured on the nightly highlight shows with a couple of high-flying dunks. While it was Bennett who did the heavy lifting for most of the game, it was a layup from Quintrell Thomas with 1.2 seconds remaining that gave UNLV the lead once and for all. California attempted a half-court shot, but it was blocked as the buzzer sounded.
As for the Golden Bears, junior wing Allen Crabbe continued his fine season with 18 points on just eight field goal attempts. Just seven players made it into the game for coach Mike Montgomery, and despite shooting 52.8 percent from the field, the team made just 15 of their 28 free throw attempts.
