Greg Whittington has been suspended for the game for a violation of team rules according to Liz Clarke, leaving Georgetown without one of its best players.
Whittington has been nothing short of rock solid this season, averaging 12.1 points and seven rebounds per game. St. John’s certainly isn’t one of the elite teams in the conference, but they are dangerous enough to knock off the No. 19 Hoyas if they aren’t careful.
It’s unclear what rule or rules Whittington broke, but clearly it was important enough for coach John Thompson III the send a message by sitting him down.
Georgetown will need Whittington back in fine form sooner rather than later with its grueling Big East schedule in full swing. The Hoyas next games are against the Providence Friars and South Florida Bulls before taking on two ranked opponents in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Louisville Cardinals.
