The No. 22 Michigan State Spartans held off the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 66-56, in Big Ten Conference action on Sunday afternoon at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center in East Lansing, Mich.

Michigan State got past Nebraska on Sunday afternoon thanks to a big run to close out the game.


Spartans guard Gary Harris, who finished the game 1-for-11 from the floor, knocked down a three-pointer with 1:38 remaining to give his team a four-point lead. The big shot kicked off an 11-2 run by Michigan State, which was aided by the defense forcing turnovers on Nebraska's next two possessions.
Michigan State received terrific production out of its centers. Starter Derrick Nix led the team with 17 points, while backup Adreian Payne pitched in 14 points on 6-of-6 shooting.
Nebraska's David Rivers led all scorers with 18 points by knocking down all eight of his shot attempts. Guards Dylan Talley and Ray Gallegos combined for 29 points, but it took the duo 35 total shots to get there.
Michigan State (14-3, 2-1 Big Ten) will host Penn State on Wednesday, while Nebraska (9-8, 0-4 Big Ten) returns home to face Purdue on the same day.
