College basketball rankings: Louisville, Indiana top latest AP Poll

After Duke and Michigan both lost over the weekend, there was bound to be shakeup at the top of the AP Poll and Louisville is the immediate beneficiary.

Richard Mackson-US PRESSWIRE

Louisville is your new No. 1 in college basketball’s AP Poll, taking the top spot from Duke after the Blue Devils fell at NC State over the weekend. Michigan’s loss at Ohio State on Sunday afternoon opened up the top two spots and allowed Louisville to jump from No. 3 to No. 1. It’s just the second time in school history that the Cardinals have been ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll.

The Indiana Hoosiers replaced Michigan as the Big Ten resident occupying the No. 2 slot. With no remaining perfects, the top eight spots all feature one-loss teams that could become interchangeable as the season progresses. The Cardinals may not have a grip on No. 1 for long, as they have to travel to Connecticut on Monday and host No. 6 Syracuse on Saturday.

Outside of the top 10, there were four teams who dropped -- Georgetown, Cincinnati, Wichita State, and UNLV -- opening up room for four newcomers -- Oregon, VCU, UCLA, and Marquette. Here’s the complete Week 11 AP Poll:
