No. 12 Creighton continued its strong start to the MVC season, defeating Northern Iowa by a score of 79-68 on Tuesday to move to 6-0 in conference play.
Northern Iowa vs. Creighton final score: Bluejays keep rolling
The Panthers kept it close for most of the game but just didn’t have an answer for Doug McDermott.

Junior forward Doug McDermott, the Bluejays Wooden Award candidate, got off to a slow start but it was only a matter of time before his shots began finding the bottom of the net.
McDermott had 28 points on 12-of-22 shooting. He scored from all over the floor while adding four rebounds and three assists against a Northern Iowa team that had no answer for his combination of size and skill at 6’8 225 pounds.
The Panthers were kept in the game thanks to the duo of Anthony James and Jake Koch, who combined for 44 points. However, their bench was outscored, 14-2, a margin they couldn't afford in a game against a potent scorer like McDermott.
For Creighton, the win sets up a huge road showdown at Wichita State, the team’s biggest threat in the MVC, on Saturday.
