NC State vs. Maryland final score: Alex Len’s putback gives Terrapins 51-50 win

Maryland scored the upset on a basket with 0.9 seconds remaining.

USA TODAY Sports

Alex Len's putback with 0.9 seconds remaining gave Maryland a 51-50 upset over No. 14 North Carolina State. The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Terrapins.

In an ugly shooting night for both teams, Len made the basket that mattered. He finished with 10 points and six rebounds in the victory. Maryland won despite shooting just 34.4 percent from the floor.

For North Carolina State, the loss was the type of letdown that was feared after the Wolfpack’s last win. Last Saturday, the team knocked off No. 1 Duke.

The first half was as ugly as could be for the Wolfpack. They found themselves down to Maryland, 22-16, after the first 20 minutes.

In the defeat, Lorenzo Brown recorded 17 points and eight rebounds. The Wolfpack bench did not score a single point.

North Carolina State will host Clemson on Sunday, while Maryland will hit the road on Saturday to play North Carolina.
