Terrance Shannon injury: Florida St. forward leaves game on stretcher

Florida State forward Terrance Shannon needed to be carried off the court on a stretcher Saturday afternoon due to an apparent neck and/or head injury. Here’s hoping he’s alright.

Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

In a scary moment for all in attendance and watching on television, Florida State Seminoles forward Terrance Shannon needed a stretcher to be carried off the court during Saturday's game against the Virginia Cavaliers after suffering an unspecified injury to his head and/or neck.

Late in the second half of Florida State’s 56-36 loss on Saturday afternoon, Shannon appeared to take a shot to the head from a Virginia player, collapsing to the court for an extended period of time. Fans cheered as Shannon was carried to the locker room, though the player gave no sign in response such as a wave or thumbs up.

For the junior forward, this is just the latest in a line of unfortunate injuries. He played in just seven games last season before undergoing shoulder surgery, which led him to miss the remainder of that season. Given how severe this injury looked from a distance, though, the primary hope right now is simply that Shannon is alright from a health perspective.
