No. 15 San Diego State vs. Wyoming final score: Cowboys stifle Aztecs, 58-45

San Diego State managed just nine points in the entire first half has Wyoming led from start to finish in the 58-45 upset win.

The game tape won't be sent to the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, but the Wyoming Cowboys shut down the San Diego State Aztecs in the first half Saturday, en route to a 58-45 win at home. The Aztecs managed just nine points in the opening 20 minutes.

The game was scoreless for the first two minutes and San Diego State didn’t get on the board until three minutes in. The Aztecs finally hit double digits with 19:04 to go in the game. As a team, San Diego State shot 29.3 percent on 17-58 shooting and was just 2-of-17 shooting from three. Wyoming made 42.9 percent of its attempts, but was just 4-for-16 from long range.

Wyoming led by 11 at halftime and held on behind 14 from Leonard Washington and three other starters in double figures. Washington also had 14 rebounds, five steals and two blocks. Winston Shepard led San Diego State with 10 points.

With the win, the Cowboys drew even at 2-2 in the Mountain West and are 15-2 overall. The Aztecs are also 2-2 in the league and dropped to 14-4 overall.
