No. 8 Florida vs. Georgia final score: Gators defense fuels 64-47 victory

With the Gators down three at the break, Florida’s defense stepped up in the second half, limiting Georgia to just 20 points in the final frame.

The No. 8 Florida Gators went into halftime of their game at Georgia trailing by three points, but a strong defensive effort in the second half fueled their 64-47 victory on Wednesday night.

The Gators limited the Bulldogs to just 20 second-half points and were able to force 16 turnovers during the game. Florida also won the battle of the boards, outrebounding Georgia by a 27-23 margin.

Meanwhile, on the defensive end, Florida didn't show the Bulldogs any mercy. The Gators got 17 points from Scottie Wilbekin and survived a difficult seven-point performance from Mike Rosario. They ended the game shooting 44 percent from the floor. Rosario struggled with his accuracy, finishing just 3-of-13 from the field

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope led Georgia with 16 points. The Bulldogs have now lost to Florida twice this month. They fell, 77-44, in Gainesville on Jan. 9.
