Michigan started sluggishly, falling down by as many as seven points to an inferior Purdue team in the opening half and entering the locker room trailing 33-32. However, a 21-9 run to start the second half allowed the Wolverines to jump ahead by 11 points with 7:30 remaining, a lead that would hold up for the nation’s second-ranked team.
Trey Burke scored 15 points and dished out eight assists to lead Michigan, while Glenn Robinson III added 12 points, nine rebounds and yet another superb dunk.
D.J. Byrd, who was the victim of Robinson's monster throw-down, buried a trio of three-pointers in the opening half, scoring 11 points to spark the Boilermakers' impressive half. However, Byrd was held scoreless in the second half while Michigan and its stars took control of the game.
Michigan (18-1) will hit the road to take on Illinois on Sunday, while Purdue (10-9) returns home to face Iowa.
