Syracuse Orange vs Villanova Wildcats betting odds, preview, prediction

Syracuse looks to make a case for the No. 1 rank when they visit Villanova Saturday. Expect the Orange to open as solid point spread favorites against the Wildcats in this Big East betting battle.

USA TODAY Sports

The Syracuse Orange are 18-1 SU this season and 17-1 SU as a road favorite dating back to 2010 as they visit Big Eats rival Villanova Saturday.

Syracuse is 9-5-1 ATS so far this season, and will try to add another road win to their resume when they visit the Wildcats.

Experts predict they will open as significant road chalk when the NCAA basketball overnight lines come out later Friday.

In a season where no one seems to be willing to grab the No. 1 spot by the horns, the Syracuse Orange have made a solid case for themselves with a single loss to Temple so far.

Brandon Triche (14.5 points per game) leads a balanced Syracuse scoring attack that ranks 25th in the nation with 77.4 PPG.

Villanova is just 12-7 SU, but has been a solid fighter all season with an 11-5 ATS record. The Wildcats showed how dangerous they could be Tuesday when they upset the Louisville Cardinals as an 11.5-point underdog.

They’ll look for another big upset at home hosting the Orange.

Villanova holds an 8-6 SU and ATS edge over Syracuse in their last 14 meetings, but the Orange have turned the tide more recently and are 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five games against Villanova.

Five of the last seven games between these two Big East rivals have gone OVER the total.
