No. 14 Ohio State vs. Penn State final score: Buckeyes cruise past Nittany Lions, 65-51

Ohio State used a 14-2 run midway through the first half to pull away from Penn State on their way to an easy victory over the Nittany Lions, who remain winless in Big Ten play.

Sam Thompson's near-perfect shooting day helped the No. 14 Ohio State Buckeyes roll past the Penn State Nittany Lions, 65-51, on Saturday afternoon at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pa.

Thompson finished 6-for-7 from the field, including hitting both attempts from three-point range, and made both of his free throws on his way to a 16-point day. Lenzelle Smith Jr. pitched in 11 points and eight rebounds for the Buckeyes, who used a 14-2 run midway through the first half to pull away from the Nittany Lions.

Ohio State built its lead to 20 points after Deshaun Thomas hit a pair of free throws with 6:09 remaining in the game. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes defense kept Penn State off the board for several long stretches by holding the Nittany Lions to 37-percent shooting.

Jermaine Marshall scored 16 points to lead Penn State, but shot just 4-of-11 from the field. D.J. Newbill pitched in 15 points in the losing effort.

Ohio State (15-4, 5-2 Big Ten) will return home to face Wisconsin on Tuesday. Penn State (8-12, 0-8 Big Ten) will hit the road to take on Iowa on Thursday.
