No. 23 Ole Miss vs. Auburn final score: Rebels escape with 63-61 win

Mississippi escaped Auburn’s upset attempt on Saturday to win its ninth game in row.

The Mississippi Rebels overcame a two-point halftime deficit to narrowly defeat the Auburn Tigers, 63-61, for their ninth win a row on Saturday.

Ole Miss led by three, 61-58, with 1:20 left in the game before Frankie Sullivan and Chris Denson combined to make 3-of-4 free throws for Auburn to tie the game at 61-61 with 34.9 seconds left. Denson missed a layup attempt on Auburn's final possession which gave the ball back to Ole Miss with under 10 seconds to play.

Auburn's Shaquille Johnson fouled Marshall Henderson on an offensive rebound attempt and Henderson made both free throws to clinch the Rebels' two-point win.

The Rebels improved to 17-2 on the season and a perfect 6-0 in the Southeastern Conference, which ties them for first place with Florida. Ole Miss has climbed to 23rd in the standings and avoided being another ranked team to be upset on Saturday as No. 3 Syracuse, No. 5 Louisville and No. 11 Kansas State lost earlier in the day.

Ole Miss trailed 33-31 at half before outscoring Auburn, 32-28 in the second half to earn the two-point win.

Ladarius White led Ole Miss with 17 points while Murphy Holloway led the Rebels with 14 rebounds, eight of them offensive.

Denson led Auburn with 18 points. The loss was the Tigers’ fourth in a row, as they fell to 8-11 on the season and 2-4 in conference play.
