College basketball rankings: Michigan moves to No. 1 in AP Poll

For the first time since 1992, the Michigan Wolverines are ranked No. 1 in college basketball’s AP Poll.

There's a split in the polls over who the country's top team is, with the latest AP Poll slotting the Michigan Wolverines into the No. 1 spot. The Kansas Jayhawks narrowly edged out UM for the top spot in the USA Today coaches poll.

In the AP edition, however, it's the Wolverines, which ascended to the top spot for the first time since 1992. Michigan received 51 first-place votes while Kansas garnered only 13 first-place votes. It won't be easy for John Beilein's club to hold on to No. 1 however, with a road game at No. 3 Indiana next weekend. The No. 1 team has been unable to stay in the that spot for the past three weeks.

Marquette and San Diego State are the newcomers this week, replacing Notre Dame and VCU. Here’s this week’s complete AP Poll:
