No. 20 New Mexico vs. Wyoming final score: Lobos escape Laramie with 63-59 win over Cowboys

The Cowboys’ shooting from beyond the arc kept them in this game, but they couldn’t overcome the Lobos’ better overall night.

Trailing at halftime, the No. 20 New Mexico Lobos were able to overcome their own poor three-point shooting and the Wyoming Cowboys sniping from the same distance to win, 63-59, in Laramie. The Lobos got the win despite shooting just 2-of-10 from downtown, while Wyoming was able to knock down 12 of their 22 shots from outside. New Mexico had a big advantage in the rebounding department, though, grabbing 30 rebounds to the Cowboys' 22.

Cameron Bairstow led the way for the Lobos with 17 points, while Hugh Greenwood also cracked the double-digit mark with 13 points. Kendall Williams also managed to record two digits in his point column with 12, while Alex Kirk chipped in 10 points.

Derrious Gilmore was Wyoming's best shooter from beyond the arc Wednesday night, knocking down five of his seven three-point attempts on his way to 15 points. Leonard Washington was next closest on the stat sheet with 11 points, along with Riley Grabau at the same total. Despite shooting 54.5 percent from three-point range, the Cowboys finished the night shooting just 40.8 percent from the field.

New Mexico will head home to face the Nevada Wolf Pack on Saturday while the Cowboys travel to Fort Collins to face the Colorado St. Rams.
