New Mexico State’s Tyrone Watson allegedly choked and stomped on the head of a fellow NMSU student last Friday.

New Mexico State Aggies forward Tyrone Watson has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules, the school announced on Thursday. Watson allegedly assaulted a fellow student on the night of Jan. 25, according to Local 4 News in Las Cruces, N.M.

Witnesses told the station that Watson grabbed 19-year-old New Mexico State student Miguel Rascon by the throat, threw him to the ground and repeatedly stomped on his head. According to Local 4 News, Watson thought Rascon was flirting with a girl who was accompanying the NMSU senior.

Although Watson has yet to be charged with a crime, this isn't the first time this month that New Mexico State player has been in hot water. On Jan. 16, Aggies redshirt freshman Emery Coleman was arrested on a vehicular manslaughter charge. Coleman was also suspended indefinitely by the team.

Watson averaged 10.8 points and 5.0 rebounds in 21 games for the Aggies this season.
