No. 17 Notre Dame vs. No. 21 Cincinnati final score: Fighting Irish pick up their first road win, 66-60

Notre Dame won their 12th straight game and also picked up their first road win of the season after they dispatched Cincinnati on Monday night.

USA TODAY Sports

While most of the nation focused on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team, the men's basketball team quietly dispatched the No. 21 Cincinnati Bearcats, 66-60, on Monday night for their 12th consecutive victory.

It was the first road win of the season for Notre Dame, who have played three games at neutral sites this season.

The Fighting Irish have quietly accumulated a 14-1 record with one of the more efficient offenses in the nation. Led by junior guard Jerian Grant, who scored 19 points, the Fighting Irish were able to punch through the Bearcats' defense just enough in the second half to take home the win. Senior forward Jack Cooley added 11 points and eight rebounds.

The Bearcats, which came into the game holding opponents to just 38.5 percent from the field, couldn’t slow down the spread of Notre Dame. All five Notre Dame starters finished in double-digit points as the team shot 52.3 percent from the field and 56.3 percent from the three-point line.

Cincinnati only trailed by four at halftime, but junior guard Sean Kilpatrick didn't get much scoring help from the rest of his teammates. He led the Bearcats with 15 points and the next highest scorer was JaQuon Parker, who had eight points. The Bearcats started the season 12-0, but have now lost three of their past four games. In each loss, the Bearcats were unable to score over 60 points.
