Connecticut Huskies freshman forward Kentan Facey has been cleared to play the upcoming season and will have a full four years of eligibility, the school announced Friday.
UConn freshman Kentan Facey cleared to play 2013-14 season
A confusing eligibility situation was resolved with the best possible outcome for UConn.

Facey’s eligibility was in question because of a standardized test he passed in Jamaica, where he’s from, before coming to high school in New York three years ago. Passing the test could have been seen as the equivalent of graduating high school, according to Jeff Borzello of CBSsports.com; his eligibility clock would have begun three years ago.
The worst-case scenario was that Facey would be forced to sit out the 2013-14 season and lose two years of eligibility afterward, but neither of those things came to pass.
Facey has been practicing with the team throughout the preseason in preparation of the NCAA’s decision on his eligibility.
The 6’9 forward averaged 14.8 points, 13.0 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game as a high school senior last season.
