Jordan Hare takes leave of absence from Rhode Island

The Rams will be without their center indefinitely, as Hare has no current plans to return to the team.

Mark L. Baer-US PRESSWIRE

Sophomore center Jordan Hare is taking a leave of absence from Rhode Island for personal reasons, according to Jeff Goodman of ESPN. Though he will remain enrolled in school, the leave is indefinite and could spell the end of Hare's career as a Ram.

Mid-Major Madness on Jordan Hare's leave of absence.

Hare was a starter for a good chunk of the 2012 season, getting the nod in 19 of URI’s 29 games. The 6’10 center averaged 5.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks. It was thought that Hare would get more minutes this season as Rhode Island looks to rebound from a down year that saw it finish 8-21.

But the Saginaw, Mich., native’s potential will remain an unknown, as the Rams will move forward without him. Sophomore Mike Aaman will most likely pick up some slack after averaging 15 minutes in the front court last season.
