Louisville coach Rick Pitino announced Monday that forward Chane Behanan has been reinstated to the Cardinals' basketball program after he was booted from the team in mid-October, according to CBS Sports' Gary Parrish. Pitino said the junior could return as soon as Tuesday in a game against Hofstra.
Chane Behanan reinstated to Louisville basketball team
After it seemed unlikely Louisville Cardinals’ Chane Behanan would be able to return to the program, coach Rick Pitino announced that the forward could suit up for Tuesday’s game against Hofstra.

On Oct. 17, the power forward who helped Louisville to the 2013 national championship was “no longer a part of” the Cardinals after he violated team and university rules. At the time, Pitino said it was possible but not probable that the 6’6, 250-pound player could rejoin the team.
Behanan returned to practice Friday after following a strict, month-long period under the watchful eye of Pitino, according to ESPN. Apparently, his few days back with the team was enough for Pitino to give Behanan a return date sooner than he alluded to in October. Originally, Pitino said the soonest he could return was mid-December.
The Cardinals are ranked third in both the preseason Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls, and they now get Behanan’s productivity back after he averaged 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as a sophomore in 2012-13.
