The Michigan State Spartans took a while to get going, but woke up in the final 12 minutes to push past the Portland Pilots. On the same day the Spartans were ranked No. 1 in the country in the Associated Press Poll -- it is the first time in more than a decade they've received the top ranking -- Tom Izzo's squad rode a career-high 25 points from point guard Keith Appling to victory.
