Frank Kaminsky scores 43 points in Wisconsin victory

The junior center had a career night against North Dakota as he set the school record for points in a game.

Mary Langenfeld-USA TODAY Sports

Wisconsin junior center Frank Kaminsky scored a school-record 43 points against the North Dakota on Tuesday night, just topping the previous record of 42 points.

Kaminsky, whose previous career-high was 19 points, just became a starter this season, and prior to the game was averaging 8.7 points.

He finished the game with quite the efficient line, going 16-of-19 from the field and hitting all six of his three-point attempts. He added five points from the free throw line and didn’t have a turnover.

Ken Barnes set the old Wisconsin school-record of 42 points back in 1965, and Michael Finley tied it in 1994.

Kaminksy nearly became the third player since 1996 to score 40 points or more in a game while missing two field goals or fewer. The last player to accomplish that feat was J.J. Redick in 2006.

It was a night of scoring achievements for the Badgers team overall as well. Wisconsin, usually not known for its offensive outbursts, hadn’t broken 100 points in a game since defeating Eastern Illinois, 105-70, on Dec. 28, 1995.
