Georgetown suffered an ugly loss Thursday afternoon, falling 63-56 to the Northeastern Huskies in the first round of the 2013 Puerto Rico Tip-Off.

Georgetown suffers an early black eye at the hands of Bill Coen’s Huskies.


The Hoyas -- who start the season 1-2 after a loss to nationally ranked Oregon and a rout over Wright State -- blew an 11-point halftime lead, as they were outscored by 18 points over the game’s last 20 minutes.
Georgetown came in averaging 81.5 points per game, but struggled to score against the Huskies. The team shot just 36 percent from the field, including 18.8 percent from behind the arc. Guards D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera and Markel Starks, who combined for 48 points against Wright State, went a combined 7-of-26.
Smith-Rivera led the team with 14 points. No other Georgetown player scored in double digits.
Northeastern's upset was fueled by forward Reggie Spencer, who finished 6-of-11 shooting for a game-high 18 points. Forward Scott Eatherton posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards.
