In perhaps the game of the night, the UConn Huskies got all they could handle from the Boston College Eagles, but were able to hang on for the 72-70 win to maintain a perfect record and push Boston College to 1-4 on the season.

DeAndre Daniels had 23 points for UConn and Shabazz Napier put in 20 as the Huskies escaped the big upset against struggling Boston College. They had just three turnovers all game, but UConn shot just 39 percent from the floor, which allowed the Eagles to hang in the game.
Florida State 85, No. 10 VCU 67
The Florida State Seminoles went on the road and dropped Shaka Smart's 10th-ranked VCU Rams 85-67 on Thursday night. Ian Miller had 22 points in 30 minutes off the bench, and three 'Noles starters scored in double figures in the convincing win.
Florida State shot 53 percent and held VCU to 29 percent shooting, which will win you a lot of games. The Seminoles are now 4-0 on the season.
No. 12 Wisconsin 88, Bowling Green 64
The entire Badgers starting lineup scored in double figures, and Bowling Green couldn’t keep up from the arc in an 88-64 win for No. 12 Wisconsin on Thursday.
Ben Brust scored 19 points and hit five threes to lead all scorers, and the Badgers outscored the Falcons by 33 points from beyond the arc. That's always going to make it tough on the opposition. Bowling Green got 17 points from Spencer Parker, but it wasn't nearly enough.
No. 13 Gonzaga 90, Washington State 75
Gonzaga shot 56.9 percent from the floor, and Washington State shot just 45 percent as the Bulldogs pushed their record to a perfect 4-0 on the season with a 90-75 win over the Cougars. Nothing new for Mark Few.
The Zags got 27 points from Kevin Pangos and 17 and eight boards from Drew Barham as the Bulldogs put this one away in the first half. The Cougars got 20 points from Ike Iroegbu.
No. 14 Michigan 85, Long Beach State 61
The Wolverines continued their good start with an 85-61 win against the overmatched Long Beach State 49ers.
Michigan hit 14 three-pointers and forced 16 49er turnovers in the win going away. Nik Stauskas had 24 points and Caris LeVert went for 20 for the Wolverines, and A.J. Spencer and Mike Caffey had 12 apiece for Long Beach State.
No. 16 Florida 79, Middle Tennessee 59
Six players scored in double figures for the Gators, and the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders couldn’t keep up with Billy Donovan’s crew as Florida ran away with a convincing 79-59 win.
Patric Young had 16 points and six rebounds in just 25 minutes for the Gators, and his teammate Dorian Finney-Smith put in 14 off the bench. Florida won this game from the free-throw line, where they hit 25 of their 30 attempts. The Blue Raiders got to the stripe just 18 times.
No. 19 New Mexico 97, UAB 94
If you hate scoring, you really wouldn’t have enjoyed this game. But who hates scoring?
The New Mexico Lobos dropped 97 points and the UAB Blazers put up 94 in a double-overtime barnburner (people still use that word, right?) as UNM improved to 3-0 on the season. Kendall Williams had 29 points, 10 assists and six rebounds, and Cameron Bairstow had 21 points and eight rebounds for the Lobos in the win.
On the other side of the court, Chad Frazier had 34 points on 19 shots for UAB in the loss.
New Mexico and UAB shot just 34 and 37 percent from the floor, respectively, but still managed to push 100 points, albeit in 50 minutes of basketball.
No. 25 Marquette 58, New Hampshire 53
Chris Otule had 16 points on just seven shots, and that was enough in one of the more low-scoring affairs of the night in college hoops. Marquette survived shooting just 32.7 percent to hang on against New Hampshire in the 58-53 win.
Todd Mayo had 16 points off the bench for the Golden Eagles, and Patrick Konan led the way for the Wildcats with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
