After playing in nearly every game for Notre Dame as a freshman, sophomore Cam Biedscheid has decided to redshirt this season to preserve a year of eligibility. The 6'7 forward is taking the cue of teammate Jerian Grant in sitting out a year.

In a promising freshman season, Biedscheid logged over 17 minutes per game, averaging 6.2 points and 1.4 rebounds. While making his decision, the St. Louis native sat out both of Notre Dame’s exhibition games and their regular-season win opener against Miami (OH). The Irish won 72-64 behind 26 points from Grant.
The Golden Gophers have suspended their center for six games, citing a violation of team rules. The announcement came before Friday’s season-opening win against Lehigh, but the specifics of the violation weren’t mentioned. Walker will be out until the second game of the Maui Invitational.
Walker lost 60 pounds last off-season, hoping to fit better into new head coach Richard Pitino’s fast-break style. As a 310-pounder under Tubby Smith, Walker was averaging two points and 2.2 rebounds as a backup center.
It’s clearance waiver season for the NCAA, and the governing body has granted the Villanova transfer the ability to play for the Gamecocks right away. When he enrolled at South Carolina in January, it was expected Johnson wouldn’t suit up until the first semester ended.
Coach Frank Martin expects the 6’3 guard to play when South Carolina hosts Longwood on Saturday. Johnson, now in his second year of eligibility, averaged 3.3 points per game for the Wildcats last season.
