Gonzaga vs. West Virginia final score: Kevin Pangos scores 18 as Bulldogs comeback, 80-76

The Gonzaga point guard got hot when his team needed him the most as they rallied from a 10-point deficit to snare a win on the road.

The West Virginia Mountaineers apparently didn't get the memo about not leaving Kevin Pangos open, as the Gonzaga Bulldogs battled back in the second half in a 80-76 win on Tuesday night.

The two teams entered the game as one of the better three-point shooting squads in the country, but you wouldn’t have realized it by looking at the box score. The Bulldogs finished the game 7-for-20 from beyond the arc and the Mountaineers were 9-for-27.

Eron Harris helped pace the Mountaineers with 23 as they took a 10-point lead into the second half. Przemek Karnowski did his best keeping the Bulldogs in the game with one of his best efforts of the season, finishing with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

The Bulldogs slowly started to whittle the deficit away and finally took the reins when Pangos came out of his slump. He drained three consecutive three-pointers in two minutes to give the Bulldogs an eight-point lead. Pangos finished the game with 18 points.

In front of the raucous home crowd, the Bulldogs couldn’t keep the momentum going. The noise and the Mountaineers’ defense rattled Gonzaga as they committed three straight turnovers to let West Virginia climb within two. However, a Dower put-back would give the Zags some breathing room in the final seconds as they came away with the win.
