Kentucky vs. Boise State final score: James Young leads Wildcats with 21 points, 70-55

The Kentucky Wildcats took the lead against the high scoring Boise State Broncos with their first possession and only relinquished it for one minute.

Boise State entered their Tuesday night matchup vs. Kentucky with a gaudy record and an impressive offensive, but the Broncos simply didn’t have enough talent to matchup with John Calipari’s Wildcats. Kentucky dominated the glass and made over half of their shots from the field to earn a 70-55 victory at Rupp Arena.

Freshman guard James Young led the Wildcats with 21 points and forward Julius Randle added 17 points and 11 rebounds for Kentucky. The Wildcats shot 52.9 percent from the floor and were able to overcome 19 turnovers in the win.

Boise State entered the game as the highest scoring team in the nation, averaging 91.9 points per game. Outside of Anthony Drmic, the Broncos found out what happens when you go up against one of the better defensive teams in the nation as the Wildcats led for virtually the whole game.

Kentucky held the Broncos to 32 percent shooting from the floor, and demolished the undersized Boise State frontcourt on the boards, 43-27. Whatever interior effort the Broncos made fell into Willie Cauley-Stein’s hands, who finished with nine blocks to go along with his six points.

Drmic scored 18 points to lead the Broncos, but he had to fight tooth and nail for every shot. Same went for Derrick Marks, who finished with 14 points but needed 18 shots to get there.

The Wildcats played an aggressive game, with four players scoring in double-digit points. Freshman guards Andrew and Aaron Harrison each added 13 points in the win. No bench players for Kentucky scored.
