Duke vs. Gardner-Webb final score: Blue Devils cruise, 85-66, in 1st game since Dec. 3

It’s going to take more than finals and a two-week layoff to slow down Jabari Parker.

Mark Dolejs-USA TODAY Sports

Jabari Parker led the No. 8 Duke Blue Devils with 21 points and six rebounds, and Duke rolled to an 85-66 win over the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs on Monday in the Blue Devils' first game in nearly two weeks.

Final exams at Duke kept the Blue Devils off the court, but they weren't a bit slow to start because of the long layoff between their last game — a 79-69 win over the Michigan Wolverines on Dec. 3 — and Monday. Duke scored 53 points in the first half, outgunning the Bulldogs, who shot an efficient 54 percent from the field but couldn't keep up.

Duke outrebounded Gardner-Webb 37-22 and was especially bullish on the defensive glass; the Blue Devils had 22 defensive rebounds to Gardner-Webb’s six offensive boards.

Andre Dawkins added 18 points off the bench for Duke, and starting point guard Quinn Cook finished with 16 points, nine assists, two steals and four turnovers.

The Blue Devils return to action Thursday at Madison Square Garden against the UCLA Bruins. The game airs on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. ET.
