Connecticut vs. Florida final score: Shabazz Napier hits buzzer-beater to give Huskies 65-64 win

The Huskies remained undefeated. Barely.

Shabazz Napier rebounded his own miss with three seconds left, and his buzzer-beating jumper from the free-throw line was just in time for the No. 12 Connecticut Huskies to top the No. 15 Florida Gators 65-64 on Monday night.

Napier led all scorers with 26 points.

The Huskies (8-0) held a one-point halftime lead despite Florida having led 24-16 at one point, the largest lead either team would get at any point. The Gators (7-2) built their lead back up to seven points at 48-41 with 12:59 to play, but UConn scored 10 unanswered points including five from Napier to take a 51-48 lead.

Over the final minute leading up to Napier's winner, it seemed that Florida would win on two occasions. Patric Young converted a three-point play with 1:18 to play, and Napier missed a 3-pointer nine seconds later. But the Huskies grabbed the rebound, and they again missed a 3-pointer (this time, Lasan Kromah missed it) and grabbed the board. With 39 seconds left, Napier hit a three and was fouled. He converted the four-point play.

Florida’s Michael Frazier II scored on a lay-up with about 18 seconds left to give the Gators a 64-63 lead before UConn’s final possession.

Casey Prather led Florida with 19 points.
