The Louisville Cardinals announced Monday that forward Chane Behanan has been dismissed from the basketball team for a violation of university rules. While coach Rick Pitino could not discuss the violation in a news conference, it was clear that Behanan was already on thin ice.
Chane Behanan dismissed from Louisville basketball
Forward Chane Behanan returned from an indefinite suspension but is now out at Louisville after another violation of university rules.

Behanan had been indefinitely suspended from the team in October for a similar violation but did everything asked of him to return by getting in Pitino’s good graces.
The news was surprising even within Louisville — Pitino went on his personal blog after the Cardinals lost to rival Kentucky and gave a humorous criticism of Behanan and his frontcourt mates by using an analogy to singer Christina Aguilera.
Behanan, a 6’6, 250-pound junior, debuted on Nov. 12 against Hofstra after his offseason suspension and has averaged 7.6 points and 6.3 rebounds for the No. 14 Cardinals. Last season, Behanan played a pivotal role on Louisville’s national championship squad, averaging 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds.
Now, the Cardinals will need to replace their second-leading rebounder with contributions from forward Montrezl Harrell, freshman big man Mangok Mathiang and senior Stephan Van Treese.
