College basketball rankings: Arizona remains No. 1, Louisville tumbles

Syracuse gained a few more first-place votes on the No. 1 Arizona Wildcats this week, and the Louisville Cardinals fell after a loss to Kentucky.

Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Wildcats remained No. 1 in the Week 9 Associated Press college basketball poll that included few shakeups.

Though the top five remained intact, the No. 2 Syracuse Orange did earn three more first-place votes this week compared to last. Arizona still holds 60 first-place votes to Syracuse's five.

Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan State round out the top five, but it was Louisville that took the biggest hit this past week after falling 73-66 to the rival Kentucky Wildcats. The Cardinals fell from sixth place to 14th, and John Calipari's Wildcats moved from 18th to 15th in the biggest move up the rankings.

The Villanova Wildcats suffered their first defeat on Saturday, falling to Syracuse by a 78-62 score, and dropped from eighth place to 11th.

Arizona, Syracuse, Ohio State and Wisconsin remain undefeated on the season and among the perfect top-25 teams are joined by No. 8 Wichita State, No. 10 Oregon and No. 13 Iowa State.
