The fifth-year graduate student transfered to the Wildcats from Louisville after playing for the Cardinals for three seasons. He injured his right knee in the Wildcats’ 71-57 loss Saturday at Iowa.
Swopshire averaged 9.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game this season before the injury and leaves a gaping hole in Northwestern's front court. He has started all 24 games this season for the Wildcats and the team's next best rebounder is guard Reggie Hearn witht 4.5 per contest.
The injury is just one more on the growing list for Northwestern this year. The Wildcats have already lost Drew Crawford for the season, and Sanjay Lumpkin, Chier Ajou and Nikola Cerina have also missed time due to injury.
Northwestern is back on the court Thursday evening when it travels to Columbus to face national power Ohio State.
