No. 2 Duke vs. Maryland final score: Terrapins pull off big upset, 83-81

Three weeks after getting trounced at Cameron Indoor Stadium, Maryland pulled off a shocking upset of Duke at the Comcast Center on Saturday.

Seth Allen hit two free throws with 2.8 seconds left, and the Maryland Terrapins upset the visiting No. 2 Duke Blue Devils on Saturday 83-81 in what could be the last time the Blue Devils visit the Comcast Center. This upset comes three weeks after Duke beat the Terrapins 84-64 at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Allen hit the two free throws just moments after Rasheed Sulaimon cashed in on three free throws to tie the game up after getting fouled on a three-point attempt. Allen finished with 16 points on the night. Alex Len led the Terrapins with 19 points and eight rebounds.

The loss dropped Duke to 9-3 in ACC play, maintaining the Blue Devils' second-place standing but dropping three games behind the 11-0 Miami Hurricanes, who play on the road Sunday against the Clemson Tigers. Duke is one game ahead of the Virginia Cavaliers in the conference standings.

Maryland is now 6-6 in ACC play, tied for sixth with the Florida State Seminoles. The Terrapins pulled off the upset by shooting a scorching 60.0 percent from the field and outrebounding the Blue Devils by a whopping margin of 38-15.

Maryland led by one at halftime and by as many as 10 late in the second half before barely coming out ahead on Allen’s free throws. The Terrapins were able to grab the victory despite turning the ball over 26 times.

Seth Curry led the Blue Devils with 25 points on 11-of-17 shooting. Duke star Mason Plumlee struggled with foul trouble for most of the night, finishing with just four points and fouling out in the final minute.
