No. 23 Oregon vs. Washington State final score: Ducks outlast Cougars in overtime, 79-77

Two E.J. Singler free throws with four seconds left gave No. 10 Oregon an overtime victory over host Washington State on Saturday night.

USA TODAY Sports

The No. 23 Oregon Ducks fought off a valiant upset bid from the Washington State Cougars on Saturday, winning 79-77 in overtime on two E.J. Singler free throws with four seconds left.

Singler's heroics came seconds after Washington State's Royce Woolridge buried a three to tie the game up. It was the second such clutch three on the night for the Cougars (11-15, 2-11 Pac 12), as DaVonte Lacy tied the game at 71-71 with nine seconds left in regulation.

Singler led the Ducks with 25 points on 6-of-11 shooting and 4-of-8 from three-point range. He also knocked down 9-of-10 from the charity stripe. Carlos Emory had 20 points off the bench and Damyean Dotson added 16 points for the Ducks (21-5, 10-3 Pac 12), who remain atop the Pac 12.

Oregon trailed by as many as 15 in the first half and went into the half down 38-27. The Ducks immediately opened the second half on a run to get back in the game, and took a lead with just under six minutes left in regulation that looked like it was going to hold up before Lacy’s late three sent the game to overtime.

Oregon survived a monster performance from Woolridge, who led the Cougars with 36 points on 10-of-15 shooting. Woolridge made 6-of-9 from deep and also knocked down 10-of-11 from the free throw line.
