No. 6 Syracuse vs. Seton Hall final score: Orange snag 76-65 road victory

Brandon Triche led a balanced scoring effort in a win for No. 6 Syracuse over Seton Hall on Saturday.

USA TODAY Sports

Brandon Triche scored 29 points to lead the No. 6 Syracuse Orange to a 76-65 victory on the road over the Seton Hall Pirates on Saturday night.

The Orange (21-4, 9-3 Big East) came out of the gates slow, falling behind by nine midway through the first half. Syracuse roared back to take a 36-30 lead at the break, but Seton Hall (13-13, 2-11 Big East) did not go down quietly. Each time the Orange looked to blow things open, the Pirates fought to keep the game close. However, Syracuse did a ton of damage at the free throw line in the second half, at one point scoring 11 straight points from the charity stripe to help lead the way to victory.

To go along with Triche's 29, C.J. Fair added 19 points and 11 rebounds. Michael Carter-Williams had 14 points and nine rebounds, doing most of his scoring from the free throw line by going 8-of-10 on freebies. James Southerland chipped in 11 points off the bench for the Orange, who are in a three-way tie atop the Big East with Georgetown and Marquette.

Seton Hall was led by Fuquan Edwin, who scored 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting and 4-of-7 from downtown. The Pirates stayed in the game thanks to their three-point shooting, as they knocked down 10 triples on the night.
