The No. 22 Memphis Tigers had little trouble dispatching the Marshall Thundering Herd on Saturday night, grabbing a 71-59 victory at the Henderson Center.
No. 22 Memphis vs. Marshall final score: Tigers cruise to 71-59 win
No. 22 Memphis opened a big lead in the first half and was never seriously threatened in a victory over Marshall on Saturday.

Adonis Thomas notched a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the way for the Tigers (22-3, 11-0 C-USA), who blew the game open late in the first half after a somewhat slow start. Memphis led 43-26 at the break, and although Marshall (11-15, 4-7 C-USA) did cut the deficit to five in the second half, the outcome never really seemed to be in doubt. And upon the margin being reduced to five, the Tigers immediately went on a 10-2 run to put the game out of reach.
Joe Jackson had 12 point and Geron Johnson added 11 points for Memphis, who holds a two-game lead in Conference USA over Southern Miss. The Tigers' defense was in fine form, holding the Thundering Herd to 38.2 percent shooting and forcing 20 turnovers.
Marshall did get a few solid performances in defeat. Elijah Pittman and DeAndre Kane had 16 points apiece, while Dennis Tinnon had 15 points and 13 rebounds.
