No. 14 Kansas vs. Texas final score: Jayhawks stifle Longhorns, 73-47

No. 14 Kansas held Texas to 21.4 percent shooting in a blowout victory at Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday.

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

With College Gameday in the house, the No. 14 Kansas Jayhawks put forth one of their most dominating performances of the year, destroying the Texas Longhorns 73-47 on Saturday night at Allen Fieldhouse.

The star of the game was the Jayhawks' defense, who held the Longhorns (11-14, 3-9 Big 12) to a miserable 21.4 percent from the field and 2-of-21 from three-point land. Kansas' offense was not too shabby itself, with the team shooting 46.4 percent and four guys scoring in double figures. Jeff Withey and Travis Releford led the way with 15 points apiece. Ben McLemore and Elijah Johnson both reached double-digits as well.

The Jayhawks (21-4, 9-3 Big 12) never trailed in this one, opening a 28-15 lead at the break and never looking back. The Kansas lead got as big as 35 before Texas finally started to score a little in garbage time. With the easy victory, the Jayhawks moved back into a three-way tie atop the Big 12 with Kansas State and Oklahoma State.

Myck Kabongo was the only Longhorn to score in double figures, scoring 13 points. However, he shot just 2-of-10 from the field and did not record a single assist. As a team, Texas only had three assists on the night.
